Colorful Two Tone Reverse French Manicure

I was super impressed with the nails that "The Makeup Blogette" created on her site, a gorgeous purple and nude reverse french manicure, so of course I had to do my own spin on it since she made it seem so easy!  Surprisingly, it actually was :)

I LOVED her color combination of purple and nude, but wanted to try a teal and blue look that would go with my colorful outfits this weekend.  Here's the inspiration/her nails:

Stunning, right???  And here's my version:

It's a very easy technique that she explained:  she put the dark color all over her nail and a second coat just at the base for more tint whereas I just put two coats of the dark color at the base of my nail and then two coats of teal above it.  Voila, simple nails that LOOK like they are a bit harder!

Polishes used:

China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Pacific Blue

Would/have you rock(ed) a two tone look like this?  What's your favorite nail design look to do?
